FS series

The FS Series, based on the principle of the hot-film anemometer, is suitable for a wide range of different applications, with the tried and tested thin-film technology guaranteeing ultimate reproducibility and long service life.
Essentially, the FS 5 sensors consist of a heater and a temperature sensor. The heater is heated up when voltage is applied. A flow causes it to cool down, and the drop in the heater's resistance is measured. The configuration of the heater and of the temperature sensor in the FS5 is such that a measuring range of up to 100m/s in gases (pdf 75 kB) and a measuring range of up to 10m/s in liquids (pdf 80 kB) can be covered. The low mass of the sensor results in rapid response times and short temperature ramp-up times. The temperature range in use reaches from -30°C to +150°C. The element is available with a plastic holding fixture, allowing the sensor to be installed easily in customer-specific enclosures.

The FS 2 sensor (pdf 81 kB) has been designed for exact measurements of minute flow speeds and is therefore the ideal solution for laminar flow monitoring and other applications in ventilation engineering. The special arrangement of the four thin-film sensors also allows the detection of the flow direction and of the reference temperature in a small and compact design. Again, the temperature range goes from -30°C to +150°C. The electrical connection is open to customer-specified design. If required, the sensors can also be supplied with matching ZIF plug-type connectors.

MicroflowSens™

The special membrane technology of the microflowSens™ (pdf 74 kB) sensors boasts an extremely rapid response time in the single digit micro second range. This makes the microflowSens™ technology the optimum solution for applications in medical and ventilation engineering. The measuring range goes as high as 1m/s, with the temperature range in use between -30°C and +150°C. Directional detection and the measurement of the reference temperature round off the outstanding technical options with an excellent price-performance ratio.
Zephyr airflow sensors
Honeywell
The new Honeywell Zephyr™ Digital Airflow Sensors (HAF Series - High Accuracy) allow for very precise airflow measurement.

The Zephyr sensors provide enhanced reliability, digital accuracy, and repeatable measurements to meet many medical and industrial application specifications.

The Honeywell Zephyr™ Digital Airflow Sensors simplify the customer's production requirements due to Application Specific Integrated Circuit (ASIC)-based I2 C digital output that eases integration to micro-processors or micro-controllers, reducing PCB complexity and component count. Their small size occupies less space on the PCB, allowing for a smaller PCB, which can reduce production costs and simplify installation in space-restricted applications. Their low 3.3 Vdc voltage option and low power supply requirements allow for use in battery-powered and portable applications.

Honeywell Zephyr™ Digital Airflow Sensors are designed to measure mass flow of air and other non-corrosive gases. They are available in standard flow ranges, and are fully calibrated and temperature compensated. They provide a digital interface for reading airflow over the specified full scale flow span and temperature range, and their thermally isolated heater and temperature sensing elements help provide a fast response to air or gas flow.

Potential medical applications include anesthesia delivery machines, hospital diagnostics (spectrometry, gas chromatography), nebulizers, oxygen concentrators, patient monitoring systems (respiratory monitoring), sleep apnea machines, spirometers, ventilators, and ventricular assist devices. Potential industrial applications include air-to-fuel ratio, analytical instrumentation (spectrometry, chromatography), fuel cells, gas leak detection, gas meters, HVAC filters, meteorology equipment, and variable air volume (VAV) systems on HVAC systems.
