NEL's optical switches employ Mach-Zehnder interferometers with thermo-optic phase shifters as switching units and include an 8x8 optical matrix switch and an 8-arrayed 2x2 optical switch.
These switches are smaller and use less power than mechanical switches or O/E-SW-EO switches. These switches can be driven by +5V TTL-level voltage.
